It's quite a journey that has led me to my career, working as a Sport Science Journalist. I am a columnist for Inside Football Magazine, a Sports Science Communicator for the Australian Institute of Sport and a freelancer writing for a variety of sports magazines.
I began my professional career teaching a combination of Phys Ed and Chemistry. After five years I gave up full time work to do an Honours degree in Skeletal Muscle Biochemistry. Next came my PhD researching hamstring injuries in AFL football which was equally as challenging as it was rewarding.
It was during the write up of my thesis that I discovered my love of writing. I really enjoyed linking the research of others together with my own findings and ideas in a way that told a story. This coupled with my passion for sports science and my core values as an educator, I was inspired to start my own business working as a Sports Science Journalist.
Sport and exercise have been a constant throughout my personal and working life. I've always played sport, predominantly netball, and love strength training and running. All of my academic work is backed up by years of working with clients as an Exercise Physiologist, personal trainer and gym instructor.
My aim is to bring an understanding of the sports science used in elite sport and the academic environment to everyday sports fans. My blog posts are a combination of my published work, reviews and the interesting work of others.
It is with pleasure that I share my work with you.
